Vehicle Loading Crane Licence

The vehicle loading crane licence (CV class) is the HRWL required before operating any vehicle-mounted loading crane on a Queensland worksite. Truck-mounted loading cranes are on construction sites, industrial facilities, and delivery operations right across Brisbane every day - and without the vehicle loading crane licence, operating one is illegal under Queensland Work Health and Safety laws.

Shamrock Training runs the vehicle loading crane licence course in Brisbane at our Northgate training centre. Real crane operators as trainers, same day statement of attainment.

What is a Vehicle Loading Crane?

A vehicle loading crane (VLC) is a hydraulic crane mounted on a truck or trailer, used to load and unload the vehicle itself at delivery and worksite locations. Common on delivery trucks servicing construction sites where materials need to be precisely placed from the delivery vehicle.

The vehicle loading crane licence is different from:

  • C2 - mobile crane up to 20 tonnes (construction and civil lifts)

  • CN - non-slewing crane (placement work independent of vehicle loading)

  • C6/C1/C0 - slewing cranes (large construction and civil lifts)
