Your Yellow Card Brisbane is the operator competency card required before you step onto any scissor lift or elevated work platform under 11 metres on a Queensland worksite. Most principal contractors require it - regardless of how many years you've been operating these machines. No Yellow Card Brisbane, no access to the platform.
Shamrock Training runs Yellow Card Brisbane courses every week from our Northgate training centre. Short course, fast turnaround, card issued the same day you finish.

The Yellow Card Brisbane is not a government-issued HRWL - it's the EWP Association's operator competency card. But virtually every principal contractor in Brisbane requires it as a site entry condition before anyone operates an EWP under 11 metres.
Theory:
EWP types under 11 metres - scissor lifts, vertical mast platforms, boom pods
Pre-operational inspection procedures and daily safety checks
Platform load limits and maximum occupancy requirements
Operating safely on different surfaces and gradient conditions
Queensland WHS responsibilities for EWP operators
Hazard identification - overhead power lines, ground stability, edge proximity
Practical:
Scissor lift and vertical platform controls and operation
Safe positioning and platform setup procedures
Operating in confined, indoor, and outdoor environments
Emergency procedures - platform lowering and rescue communication
Operator defect reporting and documentation
Shamrock Training is based in Northgate, right near Brisbane Airport. Easy to reach from Nundah, Banyo, Geebung, Eagle Farm, Virginia, Boondall, Hamilton, Chermside, and all across North Brisbane.
COURSE DETAILS
Is the Yellow Card Brisbane the same as an EWP licence?
No. The Yellow Card Brisbane is an industry competency card, not a government-issued HRWL. For boom EWPs over 11m, a formal HRWL is required. The Yellow Card covers under-11m machines like scissor lifts.
Do I need one if I already have the EWP boom type ticket?
Yes. They cover different machine classes. The EWP boom ticket covers over 11m, the Yellow Card covers under 11m. If you operate both types, you need both tickets.
How long is the Yellow Card Brisbane valid for?
Yellow Cards are typically valid for 2 years before renewal. We'll advise on current validity periods when you book.
Do I need any prior experience?
No. The course is designed for all experience levels. Whether you're brand new to scissor lifts or just need the formal card, it covers everything.
Is the Yellow Card Brisbane accepted nationally?
Yes. The EWP Association Yellow Card is the nationally recognised industry competency card for EWP operators under 11m across Australia.
