Forklift Licence

Your forklift licence (TLILIC0003) is the legal requirement before you can operate any counterbalance forklift, reach truck, or powered industrial truck on any Australian worksite. The course covers safety procedures, equipment familiarisation, use of controls, operating techniques, load management, communication skills, emergency procedures, maintenance and inspection, and regulatory compliance across various work environments.

Shamrock Training in Northgate Brisbane delivers the forklift licence course with a mix of classroom theory and hands-on practical assessment.

Note: the LF licence does not cover telehandlers - a separate competency is required for that equipment.

Who Needs a Forklift Licence?

Anyone operating a forklift as part of their work must hold a valid LF high risk work licence. This includes:

  • Warehouse and distribution centre workers

  • Manufacturing and production facility operators

  • Construction site workers moving materials with a forklift

  • Logistics and freight workers handling palletised loads

  • Anyone on a worksite where forklifts are in regular operation

Your employer cant legally put you on a forklift without the ticket, and you cant legally operate one without it either. This applies across all Australian states and territories.

  • Where can I complete my Forklift Ticket in Brisbane?

    Shamrock Training offers Forklift Licence training in Brisbane for students who want to operate forklifts safely and confidently. The course covers the nationally recognised unit TLILIC0003 and includes both theory and practical training.

  • Do I need forklift experience before enrolling?

    No prior forklift experience is required. Students must be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy skills, and provide the required evidence of identity before assessment.

  • What types of forklifts does this licence cover?

    The Forklift Licence covers powered industrial trucks with a mast and elevating load carriage, including common sit-down, stand-up and reach forklifts. It does not cover telehandlers, which require separate training and assessment.

  • Is funding available for the Forklift course?

    Funding availability may vary depending on current course eligibility and student circumstances. Contact Shamrock Training before enrolling to confirm whether any funding options or payment arrangements are available.

  • Is there a licence application fee after the course?

    Yes. After successfully completing your assessment, you will need to apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland for your licence. A separate government application fee applies, and your application must be submitted within the required timeframe after assessment.
